Virani Law is an innovative, boutique law firm servicing families across Canada. Our growing team focuses on making home insurance claims easier for individuals and families who have suffered a residential loss, mainly after devastating fires, floods, or events causing residential damage.

We are seeking an experienced Associate Lawyer to assist with our case load. The role involves a variety of case work with a focus on litigation and dispute resolution. We are not a traditional firm, and the role provides a great opportunity for personal growth and development.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to thrive as part of our team as we practice and explore a novel area of law and help the vulnerable in the process. You will be joining a team of passionate individuals in a positive and welcoming work environment.

**What we're looking for**:

- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Experience in formal litigation
- Ability to interpret complex contracts and insurance policies
- Strong ambition and comfortable handling new and challenging tasks and legal issues
- Good interpersonal and client development skills
- A personable and practical approach
- An ability to work closely with clients
- An eagerness to develop new skills and creative solutions to complex issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong conceptual skills; systems thinking and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Ability to build effective working relationships with a dynamic, professional team

**What you'll be doing**:

- Working closely with clients to help them recover after a residential or commercial loss
- Carriage of files from inception and pre-litigation through to resolution, by trial or dispute resolution
- Draft and review documents including but not limited to correspondence, pleadings, briefs, motion and trial materials
- Handling files independently and in collaboration with other associates, partners and paralegals
- Demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, tact, and courtesy with a high level of composure
- Assisting with a demanding practice while working under pressure and maintaining strict confidentiality

**Requirements**:

- JD degree
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
