**Employment Type**: Auxiliary - Term position anticipated July 4 - August 18, 2023.
**Hours of Work**: Up to 80 hours bi-weekly
Shifts will be up to 8 hours per day Monday-Friday between 8am and 5pm.
**Rate of Pay**: $18.96 per hour (plus 14% in lieu of benefits) (2023 rates)
**Notes**: Some paid planning, training and development time will be scheduled in May and June.

**Job Summary**
The Day Camp Assistant - Multi-Sport assists in the implementation and delivery of active and engaging multi-sport day camp programming for school age children. Assisting in the implementation of a variety of indoor and outdoor sport and camp activities, the successful applicant will have a positive impact on the children and families involved. The Day Camp Assistant - Multi-Sport will assist in ensuring children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age-appropriate programming, while ensuring participant safety and well-being throughout. The Day Camp Assistant - Multi-Sport will work collaboratively with the Day Camp Leader - Multi-Sport and Day Camp Inclusion Assistants. The duration of this position is from approximately July 4, 2023 - August 18, 2023.

**This position requires an acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent will be required to undergo a criminal record check in order to work in this position and to report to their supervisor. If any criminal charges are laid against them, that may be related to their employment in this position.**

**Qualifications**
- Experience assisting or leading recreational programs for school age children.
- Hands-on multi-sport experience as a participant, coach, or program leader or assistant.
- Knowledge of fundamental movement skills and physical literacy.
- Current certification in Emergency First Aid with CPR-C (at a minimum).
- Leadership abilities, including role model behaviours, along with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement while creating a positive, enthusiastic, safe and fun program environment.
- Excellent verbal and written commun1cat1ons, interpersonal and customer service skills.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**
People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.
- Assists in the delivery of safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable multi-sport programming for school age children.
- Assists with daily facility and equipment preparation, along with preparation and execution of planned activities. Assists in escorting participants to scheduled off-site activities.
- Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children. Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
- Acts as a liaison between the general public and CRD; providing good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers.
- Provides learning and guidance to participants on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
- Works collaboratively with a Day Camp Leader - Multi-Sport and Day Camp Inclusion Assistants.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.
