**Before and After School Childcare Program Team Leader - Full Time**

**Location**: Caulfeild Elementary School, West Vancouver

**SUMMARY STATEMENT**

As a Team Lead, you will work with a diverse group of children to provide a safe, nurturing, and creative environment where children can play, learn, and thrive. The Team Lead serves as the on-site supervisor and main contact for the program, fostering opportunities for social and emotional development, community-building, and homework support. You will follow and facilitate age-appropriate lesson plans, with the flexibility to adapt as needed to meet the needs of the group. In all activities, you will strive to build developmental assets in participants.

You will work with up to 24 students and one part-time staff member during the afternoon shift. This position includes split shifts on-site, as well as administrative time for planning and purchasing supplies for the program. As a licensed program, you will communicate with the licensing officer to ensure all requirements are met, including planned programming, providing daily healthy snacks, leading group activities, maintaining clear communication with parents, school staff, and coworkers, and preparing monthly program reports. You'll also ensure the health and safety of all program participants. Hours may vary slightly during school schedule changes, such as early dismissals or Professional Development days.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate a safe, organized, and engaging environment for children
- Follow, adapt, and facilitate lesson plans
- Lead group activities, encourage community-building, and support social/emotional development
- Provide daily healthy snacks and maintain a clean and safe environment, both indoors and outdoors
- Communicate clearly with children, parents, staff, and school personnel
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements
- Write monthly reports on program activities
- Supervise one part-time staff member

- Requirements:

- Minimum of two years of experience working in a childcare environment
- Education in Child and Youth Care, Recreation, Social Services, or a related field (minimum of 20 hours of courses related to children)
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Valid Food Safe Certificate
- Up-to-date vaccinations and TB test
- Knowledge of Licensing Regulations for operating a licensed childcare program in BC (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (a second language is an asset but not essential)
- Physical ability to carry out duties such as setting up rooms, shopping for supplies, providing first aid, and playing with children (ability to lift at least 25 lbs)
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- A valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to the workplace
