**Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership and expertise to a team of policy experts undertaking the planning and delivery of OEB strategic initiatives while ensuring positive internal collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Analyze research and develop action planning to provide both insights for the future of the energy sector and tangible steps that prepare the sector of today for the needs of tomorrow.
- Partner with senior leaders and executives to provide counsel and ensure all decisions, programs and services are aligned with the culture and support the delivery of corporate goals and strategies.
- Create a powerful and dynamic culture that is responsive, flexible, adaptive, and forward thinking to meet evolving needs.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of diversity and inclusion fostered by processes and practices that support a truly diverse, accessible, and inclusive organization.
- Provide value-based leadership with the vision and insight to drive process innovation and positive operational change.
- Direct, supervise, manage and inspire a team responsible for issue identification, research, analysis, policy formulation, and project management for the development of regulatory strategy and policy, as well as overseeing policy options/advice, coordinating generic issues, research, and analysis.
- Responsible for staffing levels of the department, including the recruitment and selection of direct reports to support building a diverse and empowered team.
- Provide regular performance feedback, informal feedback, coaching, talent planning and overall performance assessment.
- Identify and promote development opportunities through training, work assignments and formal succession planning initiatives to nurture a high-performance culture.
- Proactively engage the team and establish an optimal work environment through effective and consistent issue resolution.
- Promote and foster an inclusive and innovative culture to represent the OEB organization.
- Lead strategies that promote the OEB’s mission and vision and act as an influencer to inspire change.

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate degree in Public Policy, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
- A graduate degree is an asset.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the electricity or natural gas sector, preferably in a unionized setting.
- 7 years’ experience managing a team of professionals with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motive and manage a high-performance team.
- Knowledge of the _Ontario_ _Energy Board Act, 1998_, and other relevant legislation that affects Ontario energy sector to develop strategies, and to provide advice, briefings and make policy recommendations.
- Demonstrated success leading change initiatives.
- Organizational skills to independently plan, prioritize and organize work in an accurate and detailed manner.
- Diplomacy, interpersonal and communication skills to deal fairly, assertively and constructively with people leaders and staff internal and external stakeholders including the public.
- Judgment and decision-making skills to balance competing needs and provide recommendations and solutions to complex and highly influential issues.
- Political acuity to recognize sensitive political situations and recommend appropriate solutions.
