The Position
Reporting to the ESL Coordinator, the English as a Second
Language (ESL) teacher is a full-time teacher who is capable
of teaching ESL classes and providing instructional support to students needing assistance
with our ESL Plus Programme; (i.e., comprehension, reading, writing, pronunciation,
grammar etc.) within the goal of enabling students to function in mainstream classes.

Key Responsibilities
- Help identify language levels and assess student needs
- Adapt curriculum to support ESL students
- Help students achieve literacy objectives
- Work with individual students, small groups or classes to attain grade level

proficiency
- Adjust instructions to meet individual needs
- Work in collaboration with teachers, Centre administration and parents to

enhance the ESL programmes
- Provide students with positive and prompt feedback
- Facilitate learning for students and build on student confidence
- Interact in a positive, friendly, patient manner with students from different

cultural backgrounds and levels of language proficiency
- Guide students to accomplish their own work or projects
- Other duties as assigned including duties and creases

- Valid teaching qualification
- Strong interest in and personal commitment to working with youth
- Experience working with diverse cultures
- Experience of teaching EAL students
- Ability to plan and organize work to meet changing priorities
- Familiarity with approaches to the teaching and support of ESL
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Diverse strategies and open to new ideas on how to assist students

Le poste:
Sous la supervision de la Coordinatrice du programme d’anglais langue seconde,
l'enseignant d'anglais langue seconde est un enseignant à temps plein capable
d'enseigner des cours d'anglais langue seconde et de fournir un soutien pédagogique aux
étudiants ayant besoin d'aide dans le cadre de notre programme Anglais langue seconde
plus (c.à-d. compréhension, lecture, écriture, prononciation, grammaire, etc.) dans le
but de permettre aux étudiants de fonctionner dans les classes générales.
