The Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee (“CRDAC”) seeks a passionate and natural leader who will serve as the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) to successfully lead our organization into the next phase of growth and excellence. This individual shall be the steward and lead that will effectively carryout the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives while upholding its core values.

**The CEO Position Summary**

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO is the most senior management employee within the society's structure and is expected to provide effective leadership and to carry out the Board's mandate for CRDAC in a responsible manner. The CEO sets the tone for ethical and responsible decision making, appropriate management, and good governance practices. The Board of Directors establish the overall goals and direction for CRDAC but the day-to-day operations of CRDAC are the responsibility of the CEO.

The CEO works in a high-level position of trust and responsibility. In order to perform effectively in the position, the CEO must demonstrate the highest level of integrity and professionalism. The Board of
Directors must have complete confidence in the CEO's ability to implement high level policy decisions and to manage CRDAC's human resources.

- Ethics and Integrity; and
- Human Resource Management.

**Educational Achievement and Related Experience**
- University degree in Native Studies, Business Administration, Humanities or Social Sciences or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- Related non-profit, government, and/or industry relations/business development experience is preferred with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in senior management;
- A track record of leading organizations to the next stage of growth;
- Proven excellence in organizational administration and management with the ability to lead and mentor employees, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget;
- Familiarity with Métis history, rights, and culture;
- Familiarity with the oil and gas industry; and
- A driver’s license.

**Working Conditions**
- Willingness to commute to Conklin on a frequent basis. Travel to other destinations, including Edmonton and Calgary may be required from time to time.
- Ability to travel both by air and by ground.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours.
- Ability to spend long hours in an office or meeting room environment and use relevant technology including the Microsoft suite and virtual communication tools.
- Ability to work in an office environment that experiences high traffic and is typically noisy and involves frequent interruptions.
- Ability to tolerate extensive reading and computer use that may cause eye strain or headaches.
- Ability to tolerate a noisy and busy environment.
- Ability to deal with emergencies and stressful situations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high stress environment.

**Key Qualification and Competency Requirements**
- **Cultural Compatibility**_
- Understands the unique challenges of working for an organization with close connections to the Métis community of Conklin; and
- Understands the interface between the Board of Directors and CRDAC’s members and stakeholders and assists the Board of Directors in meeting their obligations.
- **Financial Management**_
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures. o Ability to read, write, and interpret proposals, budgets, project reports, financial statements, and variance reports.
- **Governance**_
- Must possess an adequate understanding of the _Alberta Society Act_ and structural governance of non-profit organizations; and
- Ability to develop and perform rigorous evaluations of internal processes, policies, and systems to ensure effective administration and management of which upholds the integrity and ethics of CRDAC.
- **Project Management**_
- The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and effectively.
- **Leadership Ability and Personal Qualities**_
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to write reports and planning documents, and effective public speaking skills.
- Ability to actively listen and use appropriate communication to ensure understanding and to effectively deal with problems and concerns to resolve conflicts and facilitate teamwork.
- A personal commitment to excellence including displaying dedication, honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics.
