Your Opportunity:
The Psychologist LC - Calgary Pain Program - provides clinical psychological assessment and brief individual therapy for our patients. The psychologist provides chronic pain services (Chronic Headache, Pelvic, NMSK) and supports patients in accessing other mental health resources when required. An ability to collaborate and provide excellent care within a multidisciplinary and interprofessional team focused on supporting patient self-management strategy is critical to success in this position. Conducts psychological assessments of patients through the use of standardized psychological tests, structured and clinical interviews in order to establish appropriate treatment plans. Participates in treatment planning and patient/family conferences by providing the clinical team with information regarding the patient’s motivation, coping style, learning skills, personal, family, social strengths, and challenges. Provides cognitive behavioral therapy and has some expertise with Health Change Methodology or related processes. Leads or co-leads client education programs at the Chronic Pain Centre as well as community-based programs/groups Participates in program evaluation by completing the documentation required for internal and external program evaluation plan. Provides input and expertise in development of program activities. Participates in Quality Improvement activities: scheduled quality improvement meetings, development and implementation of process improvement innovations. Provides clinical supervision of doctoral level psychology residents. Designs and conducts education sessions for inter-professional learners. Shares expertise and knowledge through professional education activities, clinical rounds, journal club, committees etc. Designs and conducts clinical research related to program goals and activities.
Description:
As a Psychologist LC, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Graduation from an accredited PhD program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Approved internship. Chartered or eligible for chartering in Alberta. Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience working with chronic pain patients. Knowledge of clinical practice issues related to chronic pain and headache populations. Experience working with an interdisciplinary team. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
Demonstrated skills in group facilitation. Experience coordinating and facilitating therapeutic groups. Experience in clinical neurology. Experience in young adults with chronic pain.
