Under the direction of the Transit Plus Senior Inspector, the Transit Plus Inspector is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and supervision of on-street Transit Plus service.

Responsibilities include responding to incidents involving customers and drivers, inspecting key city locations on both a roving and pre-determined basis, providing general supervision and guidance to Transit Plus drivers, and conducting inspections of vehicles, pick-up/drop-off locations, and customer mobility aids or equipment to ensure safe and efficient service and adherence to established policies and procedures. This position also investigates complaints and resolves disputes between drivers and customers, recommends disciplinary action for Transit Plus drivers, and responds to emergent situations impacting service delivery, such as disruptive passengers or motor vehicle accidents.

Shift work is a requirement of this position.

**As the Transit Plus Inspector you will**:

- Monitor service provided to customers by contractors to support safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction and document service delivery issues.
- Inspect all vehicles, equipment, and drivers and ensure they meet Transit Plus guidelines and standards.
- Perform field investigation work regarding customer issues, pick-up/drop-off and transit stop locations, Transit Plus contractor work, etc., and provide detailed reports and resolutions.
- Provide on-the-street coaching and guidance of contracted Transit Plus drivers and assist with the training & development.
- Deal with major service disruptions and special events, coordinating on-street service to optimize reliability and efficiency.
- Liaise directly with a variety of stakeholders, including agencies, medical establishments, businesses, and contractors to investigate and resolve complaints or share information on Transit Plus services.
- Perform other duties which may include retrieval/replacement of video/audio recording system storage drives in contracted vehicles, participation in operator award committees, and enforcement of provincial/municipal statutes.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- High School Graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education in Business and Administrative Studies, Operations Management, Transportation/Logistics or Enforcement is preferred.
- Two (2) years related experience within the public transportation industry involving front-line customer service and vehicle-related exposure and/or inspection/enforcement experience (e.g. bus operator, transportation service inspector, by-law enforcement officer, etc.).
- Experience in a supervisory or inspection/enforcement role is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with various stakeholders clearly, concisely and positively, at times under stressful conditions.
- Ability to independently make sound decisions and recommendations under time-limited conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts, and the public, and work as part of a team with colleagues and supervisors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook with the ability to operate mobile communications devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of mobility aids and medical devices used by individuals with disabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of the City of Winnipeg street network and Winnipeg Transit & Transit Plus policies and practices.
- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
- Ability to obtain a Class 4 License within six (6) months.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Level C or ability to obtain within six (6) months or as determined by the employer.
- Successful completion of the Transit Plus driver training course within six (6) months or as determined by the employer.
- Knowledge of CAN/CSA Standard D409-92: Motor Vehicles for the Transportation of Persons with Physical Disabilities or ability to obtain within two (2) months.
- Knowledge of CAN/CSA Standard Z605-03: Mobility Aid Securement and Occupant Restraint (MASOR) Systems for Motor Vehicles or ability to obtain within two (2) months).
- Knowledge of The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and the associated Accessible Transportation Standard Regulation, or ability to obtain within two (2) months.
- Knowledge of other relevant legislation in Manitoba such as The Highway Traffic Act, The Human Rights Code, The Adults Living with an Intellectual Disability Act, The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and The Personal Health Information Act, or ability to obtain within two (2) months.
