In the role of Business Unit Manager, Oncology, you will lead the strategic development, tactical implementation, and financial planning components of all sales and marketing-related topics of the brand strategy and manage customer and other commercial activities. This role includes leading and coaching sales and marketing teams to maximize engagement and growth for both short
- and long-term performance results, while placing the patient at the center of all efforts.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Effectively manage and execute all marketing and sales related brand activities as per the brand plans, such as development and implementation of commercial brand strategy and tactical activity execution to maximize or exceed brand sales and margins within budget.
- Optimize resource utilization by leading, developing, and coaching sales team performance including setting sales targets and incentive schemes, managing sales force management systems and key performance indicators to continuously improve sales performance. Ensure regular updates on sales team skills in terms of medical, technical, compliance and special in-field knowledge areas.
- Accountable for allocating brand P&Ls in terms of sales, resourcing, and financial planning (updates, and long-range).
- Set future direction for existing and new products or business opportunities to seize maximum business results and continued growth.
- Professionally manage and build cross-functional cooperation between key stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and qualitative market intelligence information and brand tactics is communicated to brand and in-field teams to optimize brand strategy and its execution.
- Develop and coach talent and build succession plans to ensure continuous high performance and engaged talent pipeline in sales and marketing.
- Liaise with relevant international and global teams to integrate their brand vision and strategic objectives into the local brand planning strategy.
- Work collaboratively with an all for one attitude within the divisional leadership team to maximize alignment and engagement across business units.
- Role model AbbVie Ways of Working behaviours and enable the brand team matrix to achieve high-quality strategy and execution capability in all allocated brands.
**Education / Experience required**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Commerce and/or Business Administration would be preferred. Master of Business Administration degree considered an asset.
- Relevant experience with proven track record in both marketing and sales management positions within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to develop a business vision and translate it into strategies with realistic execution actions.
- Recognize developing talent, with a capability to manage performance issues, through a genuine commitment to develop self and others.
- Excellent working knowledge of healthcare environment and evolving landscape.
- Highly innovative to develop new solutions for problem resolution.
- Excellent knowledge of strategic and tactical marketing principles and techniques (including digital).
- Extensive experience leading large sales teams.
- Operates and leads effectively in a matrix structure.
- Solid understanding of finance principles, market access, compliance, and the regulatory environment.
Preferred:
- Expertise in the Oncology therapeutic area
- Established relationships with key stakeholders.
- Functional working experience in market access, business intelligence, digital or medical considered a plus.
