Job Summary

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Collaboration for Outcomes Research & Evaluation (CORE) seeks a Research Analyst to support multiple research programs in health economics and epidemiology research focused on rapid genome sequencing (rGS), rare diseases, multiple sclerosis, and nanomedicines.

The Research Analyst will mainly support the RAPIDOMICS 2.0 project, which evaluates the potential costs and benefits of providing long-read rGS as a clinical diagnostic test for genetic diseases in critically ill newborns and infants in British Columbia (BC). The evaluation will be centred around the development of a set of decision-analytic models that will allow the team and stakeholders in Genome BC to evaluate the costs and consequences of different diagnostic strategies, including rapid exome sequencing, rGS, short-read GS and long-read GS. In addition, the Research Analyst will also support the early health technology assessment (eHTA) platform for nanomedicine technologies and other ongoing projects in the lab.

Organizational Status

The Research Analyst will report directly to Dr. Larry Lynd and the Research Associate and work with students, fellows as well as other researchers on the project.

Work Performed

The Research Analyst will be responsible for:
- Conducting systematic and non-systematic literature searches to answer specific health-economic-related research questions- Assists the PI and Research Associate in the development of RAPIDOMICS 2.0 research goals and objectives- Overseeing RAPIDOMICS 2.0 data management, including data, extraction, cleaning, analysis and interpretation, contributing to the development of economic models. Provides analytical interpretation of this data to guide the preparation of research reports, providing insights to the PI and the rest of the team and disseminating knowledge to a variety of audiences. Edits and translates data when needed.-
- Presenting research findings at team meetings, academic conferences and workshops- Participating in the dissemination of results and knowledge transfer activities, including manuscripts, reports, and presentations- Working collaboratively with the CORE research group including other research coordinators, analysts and trainees and participating, coordinating and/or evaluating other CORE research when necessary- Performing other research tasks and providing research support as directed by the Principal Investigator and/or RAPIDOMICS 2.0 Research Associate.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The Research Analyst will work independently, with regular updates on progress and challenges. The incumbent must exercise judgment on the day-to-day progress of research projects. The individual must interact with co-workers, researchers and study participants in a highly respectful manner. A high level of confidentiality is essential. The Research Analyst’s actions could negatively affect the accuracy of research findings if attention to detail and sufficient skill are not applied.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
