Recreation Leader

**Description**:
Reporting to the Recreation Officer (Facilities), the incumbent will be responsible for staffing and scheduling a wide variety of municipality owned and/or supervised facilities to allow community access. Facilities to be scheduled and staffed include but are not limited to: community schools, lodges (Odell Park Lodge, Killarney Lake Rotary Centennial Lodge), indoor ice surfaces, community rooms, sport fields, beach volleyball courts, and the Nashwaaksis Indoor field house. The hours for this position are 160 hours over a 4-week period. This position will include evenings and weekends.

**Position Specifications**:

- Scheduling sport, recreation and community use municipal infrastructure;
- Assist in hiring, training and overseeing the work of on-site facility staff;
- Provide service delivery to a vast array of individuals, sports teams, special event organizers, coordinating with internal divisions and departments that support the service delivery (Service Fredericton, Parks & Trees Division, Building Services Division, etc.);
- Facilitate and regularly attend identified user group meetings (i.e. Fredericton Youth Hockey Assoc., Fredericton District Soccer Assoc., Annual Sport Field wrap up meetings etc.);
- Account management - ensuring all required contracts are complete and sent to user groups, collection of payments to ensure accounts are current and paid on time (outside user fees, rental fees, etc.;
- Responsible for approving timecards for students on Oracle
- Responsible for presentations to City of Fredericton Council, user groups and public meetings.
- Other duties as required

**Education and Experience**:
University degree and background in Sport and Recreation Administration, kinesiology, or related field of study. Proven experience with scheduling sport/recreational facilities and public use infrastructure. Strong working knowledge and background of ice and field sports and related recreation facility and infrastructure needs and requirements. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required, and proficiency in the use of Amelia (On-line Facility Booking Software) and When to Work Software is considered an asset.

- Proven experience working with public facing, facility scheduling role;

- Ability to effectively and professionally respond to staff and public issues and concerns;
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and multiple facility/infrastructure user groups;
- Strong interpersonal skills and scheduling and programming coordination and delivery skills;
- Interest and ability to learn new software programs as required;
- Able to prioritize;
- The ability to work in both official languages (English as well as French)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $56,199.26-$61,410.44 per year
