- Position Summary:_

Manages and maintains Gordon Food Service safety and accident prevention programs for transportation and fleet in assigned Divisions. Delivers and monitors training to all business unit employees on safety policies, procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with corporate safety procedures and related government/provincial safety regulations. Monitors all such programs for consistency and compliance in all assigned divisions.

- Essential Functions:_- Works closely with Transportation and Fleet Leadership to ensure compliance and consistency in safety & compliance programs being administered in all divisions.-
- Delivers safety training and education necessary to meet DOT/MOT/FMCSA, and federal, provincial and/or state safety regulations and GFS safety objectives-
- Monitors effectiveness of training by auditing employee knowledge and observing employee behavior through ride-along observations.-
- Follows up on violations including but not limited to HOS, DOT Inspection, & Safety violations.-
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices-
- Manages the incident and injury investigation process and works with supervisors to determine required follow-up and corrective actions and ensures follow thru-
- Follows up with managers on collision preventability-
- Assists transportation leadership with incident/injury reporting, return to work, and regulatory reporting when required-
- Provides on-site support when possible at serious collision or injury sites.-
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to divisional employees on safety initiatives-
- Monitors the division in regards to compliance with regulatory and GFS procedures, policies and results.-
- Conducts regular safety meetings with divisional transportation leadership teams-
- Facilitates, leads or participates in safety projects, events and in GFS national safety forums when directed-
- Performs other duties as assigned.- Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:_- This position requires excellent interpersonal, collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking skills.Knowledge of current trends and developments in the field and industry.-
- Ability to develop solutions. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives. Education & Experience Requirements:_- High School Diploma/equivalent required-
- Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health & Safety preferred-
