**The product purchaser’s obligation is to**:

- Purchase weekly floral products.
- Manage the weekly products availability.
- Administer weekly and seasonal pricelists for all local products.
- Secure seasonal pre-booked products.
- Negotiate Pricing
- Understand the product life cycle

**Duties and Responsibilities - Purchasing**
- Create and transmit purchase orders weekly with suppliers using Florisoft.
- Administer and communicate, solution based, all discrepancies, shortages and/or substitutes to the appropriate units including but not limited to sales team members, and other purchaser.
- Source product and communicate logistics for all last-minute orders by quick analytical judgment based on level of commitment to the customers, determining this from the sales account manager.
- Correspond all inbound freight with the Logistics administrator to ensure all logistics are arranged weekly.

**Purchasing Management (ongoing)**
- Correspond with all local growers weekly to determine product availability compiling the data into Florisoft and producing a price list for distribution.
- Execute due diligence in sourcing additional product from current or new suppliers according to seasonal and weekly needs, understanding consumer trends and communicating with account managers.
- Visit growers, current and new on an occasional basis building strong relations and staying current with offerings, new items, new procedures etc.
- Build and administer peak period holiday availability lists in advance to optimize sales manager’s ability to pre book. Holidays include Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mothers day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Source and communicate to Marketing Department, any special offerings from growers throughout the year continually endeavouring to support the sales teams’ effort to increase sales and margins.
- Supply the Marketing Department product information to produce flyers for special items and or pre-book opportunities and flash sales.
- Manage and administer all products pricing in collaboration with the weekly availability lists.
- Update pricing weekly according to market fluctuations, supply and demand, vigilantly corresponding with the Sales Account Managers when applicable in addition to best practices.
- Create in advance of all floral holidays, pricelists in correlation to the availability lists.

**Qualifications**
- Knowledge of the flower industry
- Base knowledge in accounting system.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Punctual, quality penmanship and willingness to correct mistakes quickly.
- Valid G driving license
- Ability to listen and recognize needs of sales team and act swiftly

**Working conditions**
- Office and warehouse environments
- Training, both short and ongoing will be provided.
- The job requires longer hours on some days versus shorter hours on other days.
- Can be highly stressful at times.
- The job is office related at most times but also conducted in warehouse setting.
- Warehouse environment is often wet with cooler temperatures ranging from 2-16 degrees.

**Working times**
- 42 ½ - 45 hours average each week, hours on a weekly basis will vary slightly according to peak periods.
- Total of 2 weeks paid vacation per year if full time employment. These dates must not coincide with the major floral holidays and must be communicated to HR 8 weeks prior desired time.

Floral Express strongly believes in offering competitive compensation equal to or above industry standards.
