The prep cook or cook will be responsible for assembling the breakfast and lunch items made daily for retail at Hanks as well as preparing ingredients for the following day's menu. These items may include sandwiches, salads, soups and savory pastry items such as sausage rolls or hand pies.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure station is clean and organized at all times
- Ensure a FIFO procedure is followed for all food preparation
- Daily refrigeration, sanitation logging kept up to date
- Ensure that batch logging procedures are followed for each item as required
- Daily preparation of sandwiches, sandwich meats and all fillings (eggs, roast meats, smoked meats, dips and spread, fresh vegetable preparation, pickles, relishes, vegetarian items)
- Weekly preparation of savory pastry items for retail freezer such as sausage rolls for example.
- Assist when necessary during busy periods at the counter
- Stay ahead on food preparation for the coming days ahead
- Monitor ordering requirements and communicate as needed.
**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT**
- PC1 or higher an asset OR 1 year culinary experience
**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Must be friendly and courteous;
- Has high stamina and can handle long and busy days on their feet;
- Can lift heavy things like garbage bags and kegs;
- Works well either in a team or alone; and
- Willing to work evening shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
**Salary**: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
