The Composite Prototype Laborer is responsible for the end to end process in the design and development of composite prototypes. This role works in collaboration with Engineering Design and CNC Programmers to ensure prototype readiness for production. The role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the integrity of the composite build process. The role reports to the Composites Prototype Supervisor.

Interacts with Design Engineer, Production Supervisor, Mold Team, Quality and Materials and CNC programmer as required to develop a Production ready mold.

Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required;
- sand, seal prep and finish MDF prototype molds
- build composite gelcoat molds from tooling plugs
- composite infusion process knowledge
- body work prep an asset
- ability to use various hand tool-sanders, grinders

Ensure that the customer requirements - which include project timing, part quality and delivery are understood and met via product/process development.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner of collaboration and respect with internal and external customers, co-workers and management.

Coordinate with departments (i.e. Production, Materials etc) to procure necessary resources as required to complete continuous improvement and prototype activities.

Design and develop new molds, molding processes, techniques, process improvements and cost reductions.

Ability to manage time effectively to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Continue to expand in knowledge and use of tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.

Work directly with Quality as required to ensure conformance to specifications as well as assist with trouble shooting internal and external issues as required.

Other duties or projects as assigned.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

Must be a Canadian Citizen

Experience in woodworking and/or autobody paint / prep

2+ years of mold making experience

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and schematics

Ability to effectively communicate and establish relationships, credibility, and trust with all levels of employees within the organization

This position works a 5am - 3:30pm schedule Mon - Thu. You must be able to work these hours and have your own transportation to work.

Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently, and within a team, to meet project timelines

Ability to work within a diverse team

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Ability to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements including overtime

Demonstrate initiative, reliability and positive team attitude

Extremely detail oriented and analytical thinker

Must be able to successfully pass a controlled goods background check
