The cook is responsible for creativity, leadership and ensuring that we provide the best quality, by aspiring to the highest professional standards.
**_Accountabilities:_**
1. Preparation of high quality, tasty meals according to the posted menu and following the standardized recipes with attention to portion control.
2. Oversees and assists with the service of food, ensuring resident food preferences are respected.
3. Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs as required; and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
4. Assists in control of food costs and wastage.
5. Recommends and institutes change in technique or procedure for more efficient operation.
6. Relieves Food Services Manager on days off and performs necessary related duties as determined appropriate.
7. Assists in the orientation and training of new food services employees.
8. Inspects food supplies and determines what quantities of food should be reordered and communicates this to supervisor.
9. Attends resident and staff meetings to better understand the food services needs of the residents. Participates and contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve quality of service and employee productivity.
10. Performs other duties and functions as required.
**_Qualifications:_**
1. College Diploma, Chef or equivalent
2. Must have experience in quantity food preparation and the preparation of therapeutic diets.
3. Must be familiar with the use of kitchen equipment.
4. Must have empathy for, and an understanding of the needs of the elderly.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 24 per week
**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
