**Job Description**:
Accountabilities:

- Develop, implement and maintain the LIS within a multi-site facility
- Provide innovative solutions for the collection and distribution of laboratory data
- Develop and maintain accurate and complete records for activities in area of responsibility
- Identifying opportunities for improvement in area of responsibility
- Participates in the detection, reporting and prevention of unexpected occurrences
- Review calculations performed on patient data by the LIS periodically
- Consult/collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to develop a customer/client focused approach to information services
- Maintain confidentiality of patient results according to legislation and established policies
- Ensure competency/compliance with professional college
- Train users as necessary when new or changed procedures are implemented
- Follow safety and environmental requirements
- Attend and document safety-related training
- Audit and review the safety program as assigned
- Follow Osler’s safety policies and regulatory requirements
- Other duties may be assigned according to training and scope of practice

**Qualifications**:

- Five or more years or a combination of experience and relevant courses as per the Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act
- Knowledge of LIS and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of integrated systems and hospital information systems
- Experience in critical thinking and problem solving
- Good working knowledge of all specific disciplines (i.e., point-of-care, hematology, chemistry, transfusion medicine, cytology, anatomic pathology, microbiology, flow cytometry) including protocols, regulatory requirements and best practice standards (e.g. Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute)
