The Recreation Department is in search of 3 Summer Day Camp Leaders to join their team for the upcoming summer season to assist in the delivery of programs offered in the community Are you an individual that has a love for inspiring young minds, enjoys working with children and youth, has excellent customer service skills and wants to positively contribute to our local community? The Opportunity
Reporting to the Recreation Program Facilitator, the Summer Day Camp Leader works within a team to help lead programs that encourage participants to build their self-confidence, independence, skills, while creating a fun and unique experience for them. As the primary caregivers for participants, you are tasked with creating a fun, positive environment while ensuring their health and safety.

Hours of Work
This position is based on a 40-hr/week, Monday to Friday from June 17 - August 30, 2024.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership and act as a positive role model for participants.
- Supervise, and engage participants throughout all activities in a positive and encouraging environment.
- Plan, facilitate, and adapt programming as required.
- Ensure that safety standards and procedures are maintained.
- Familiarize yourself with participants medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and/or behavioral concerns and act accordingly based on the provided information and training as required.
- Ensure any accidents/incidents are reported to the Recreation Program Facilitator.
- Assist in the clean up after activities and at the end of each day.
- Adhere to all City of Wetaskiwin Policies and Procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of recreation service delivery and customer service.
- Able to work independently and as part of the team.

Education and Qualifications
- High School/College/University or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children and youth is an asset.
- Have, or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates at own cost.
- Successful applicants will be required to provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
