Position Summary
Join the City of Regina for the Property Assessor position and play a crucial role in property assessment and taxation
You'll be responsible for collecting and recording essential property data, inspecting and documenting changes such as new constructions, renovations, and demolitions. You will ensure accuracy and fairness for property owners and engage in special projects to verify and enhance data. If you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy combining fieldwork with analytical tasks, we want you on our team Key Duties & Responsibilities
Review building permits, drawings, and plans and prepares field sheet and sketch for field inspections.
Inspects, measures, records, and validates real property attributes including building size, quality, construction type, and building features (new, improvements, renovations, replots).
Interacts with property owners/representative, provides information, and responds to questions.
Maintains comprehensive property records of sketches, diagrams, and other relevant notes and data.
Calculates assessed value for property and updates data in systems.
Reviews and checks data entries and outputs as required.
Verifies property data for inquiries, appeals, or review programs.
Assembles information for assessment appeals and participates as required.
Completes processes for roll closing, year-end, and other schedules.
Assists in the collection, substantiation, and analyses of property sales data, assessment data, and other market data.
Responds to customer inquiries and requests for information.
Researches and supplies information for administration reports and appeals.
Provides ideas and suggestions to improve work processes.
Maintains filing systems in accordance with branch procedure and corporate records management policies and procedures.
Other duties as required. Key Qualifications
Completion of a 2 year Post secondary Diploma or bachelors degree in economics or commerce, supplemented with the first or second level of the Appraisal Institute of Canadas courses OR graduation from a two-year post-secondary Real Property Assessment Certificate Program.
Driver's Licence Classs 5
A minimum of five (5) years experience in the property assessment field or a mass appraisal environment.
Key Knowledge
Property valuation, assessment, taxation, as well as building permit processes and procedures
Office administration processes and customer/client services
Relevant collective agreements, bylaws, policies and procedures, and legislation, including health and safety standards
Job-related office productivity software, internet browsers and search engines, enterprise software, discipline-specific software, and technology devices

Clearly explain and exchange technical and process information.
Deliver and discuss sensitive or contentious information effectively.
Utilize calming and de-escalation techniques in difficult situations.
Read plans and drawings accurately, preparing clear sketches.
Identify issues and consult policies, procedures, and processes for resolution.
Prioritize and adapt office activities according to daily, weekly, and annual schedules, meeting defined deadlines.
Suggest and implement ideas for improving work processes.
Provide excellent customer service and administrative support as the initial technical contact.
Ensure timely completion of work unit activities by following sequenced tasks and workflows.
