IT is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time permanent **Geographer** to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The initial phase of all submarine cable projects is the Desktop Study. The Desktop Study involves the gathering and analysis of available information that could have an impact on the cable, on the environment and on the people to allow optimal engineering and planning of the system.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Conduct comprehensive research and analyze geology, climatology, oceanography, biology, and human activities such as marine traffic, fishing, and offshore exploration.
- Prepare detailed reports based on research findings to support project engineering and operation planning.
- Accompany site visit teams to identify optimal landing sites and engage with local stakeholders for additional insights.

**Required Competencies**:

- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding and practical use of spatial analysis software (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Global Mapper) an asset.
- No prior experience required; industry specific training will be provided.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with keen interest in documentary research and report writing.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork and travel as required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders.

Interested and available for national and international travel. **A valid passport is required.**
