**Job Summary**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure proper and consistent interpretation of the City of Mississauga Zoning By-Law.
- Respond to various zoning inquiries and provide verbal and/or written information, guidance and advice to general public, internal staff, external agencies and members of Council.
- Provide technical support to permit administration staff and provide information, education, guidance and advice to clients/customers.
- Represent the section at various committees and meetings
- Provide ad hoc assistance on projects/initiatives within the unit/team.
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Certified Architectural/Civil Engineering/Planning Technologist or post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline with minimum of five (5) years experience in the building design or construction field
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in a regulatory environment preferably in building code or zoning enforcement or direct experience in the building design or construction process.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and other building related drawings and associated specifications to determine compliance with applicable legislation and requirements.
- Must have solid working knowledge of zoning by-laws, applicable legislation, agreements, regulations and other documentation related to the development process; familiarity with the Ontario Building Code is considered an asset.
- Strong computer literacy including experience with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat; Experience with Mississauga Approvals Express (MAX), electronic plans submission (e-plans) or other computer assisted drafting (CAD) or permitting software will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage high volume workload to complete assigned duties accurately and within timelines.
- Excellent verbal communication as well as interpersonal, problem solving and conflict management skills to deal effectively with the general public, contractors, developers, staff and other stakeholders with the approvals process including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work autonomously or within a group or team environment.

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
This position is included in the Corporation's Departmental Job Evaluation project.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 73,350.00 - $ 97,802.00
