Slitter

This position is a unionized role as part of our production team._ _As a Slitter Operator you will be required to learn, understand and put into practice all of our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast passed manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with mínimal supervision, independently and in a team with another operator. You must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. _No travel is required for this position. _

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- _Operate slitting/packaging cell to cut, package and label various rolled roofing products_
- _Provide support to maintenance team members to help troubleshooting machine issue, and making improvements (optimization), within the department._
- _Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results_
- _Perform daily walk around of your work area to ensure guards and safety devices are in place_
- _Perform checks on safety equipment and record results as part of an ongoing safety program_
- Perform checks to validate the acceptability of product packaging and product counts_
- _Perform other duties as required_

**Working Conditions**:

- _Manufacturing Plant environment where the plants may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings._
- _Monday - Sunday; 7:00 am - 7:00 pm& 7:00 pm - 7:00 am._

**Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Used**:

- _Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor. _
- _Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) on the production floor._
- _Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department._

**Requirements**:
**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- _Effective written and verbal communication skills. _
- _Attention to detail_
- _Working knowledge of safety standards WHMIS_
- _Ability to work rotating shifts_
- _Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines._
- _Ability to uphold confidentiality_
- _Ability to work overtime to meet customer requirements_
- _Perform any other duties as assigned by Team Leader_

**Education and Experience**:

- _Required:_
- _High School Diploma required or equivalent._
- _Two to Three Years of Manufacturing experience_
- _Certification in forklift_
- _Experience working with manufacturing machines is an asset_
