Vancouver, Canada Southlands Farm Full time

Southlands Heritage Farm is a 2.5-Acre property in Vancouver’s Kerrisdale neighbourhood, 3 blocks from the #49 bus. We have goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, honey bees, and many horses & ponies. During the school year we operate an elementary school with approximately 35 children. During after-school hours, we offer on-site horseback riding lessons geared to beginners. On weekends we host pony rides and birthday parties, and are open to the public to visit by donation. During spring-break and summer, we operate farm and pony day-camps for children. In the summer months we operate a weekly farmers market where we sell our own fruits and vegetables. In October we operate a Pumpkin Patch. We have roughly 20 full-time and 30 part-time employees.

*Overview*

We are seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team. Your primary role will be assisting a twice-exceptional 11 y/o student with autism/PDA and possible ADHD. He does not need full-time support, but does require full-time supervision and the ability to step in immediately when required. During other times, your role would be to support the teachers and other students.

- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and students

While we do have indoor spaces, we are a year-round outdoor program, and we also go on a lot of field trips. You can review more about our program at sfos.ca

The contract is for Monday to Thursday, 8:30-5, September 9th, 2024 through June 26, 2025 with 2 weeks off in December and 2 weeks off in March. We provide 2 weeks paid vacation, and the option to work at our day-camps (but at a reduced rate) over spring break and summer break. We also have the option of working Fridays if you want more hours.

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
