We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills to assist our Environmental Services team to communicate with builders and developers and enforce environmental bylaws particularly in regard to erosion and sediment control measures on construction sites. The Environmental Services and Worksite Bylaw Officer will also issue warnings and tickets for environmental bylaw violations, collect evidence for legal proceedings, provide support in emergencies involving toxic pollutants, and investigate the source of pollution and help determine the required remedial actions.
Working as part of a team, the successful incumbent will draw on their proven abilities to collect water and soil samples for laboratory analysis, review and interpret laboratory data, operate environmental monitoring equipment, review erosion and sediment control plans and, communicate effectively with a range of internal and external contacts including developers and builders.
Applicants under consideration will be required to consent to a Police Information Check (with no adverse reports) and will be required to possess a valid BC Driver’s License (with satisfactory driving record).
A CUPE hourly rate of $37.12 - $43.82 per hour, comprehensive benefits package, and an earned day off program are being offered.
