**Role overview**:
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL database administrator to join our team. As a SQL database administrator, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our organization's database systems. In this role, you will collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure that our database systems meet the needs of our users and support our business operations optimally.

**Must haves skills**:

- SQL Server, Replication concepts
- Scripting experience - PowerShell / Python / Ansible

**What you’ll do**:

- Configure and administrating SQL server Clustering, AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AAG), Replication, Database Mirroring and Log Shipping and troubleshooting issue and fixing problems.
- Backup and disaster recovery procedures and implementing Point-In-Time recovery solutions.
- Expertise on Performance Tuning by using of SQL Profiler, Query Store, Execution Plan, Performance Monitor, Tuning advisor, extended events, Resource governor, Trace template, System stored procedures, DMVs and DBCC Commands, Maintaining Indexes and stats regularly.
- Configure and true SQL Server Backup, Integrity Check, and Index and Statistics Maintenance using OLA Hallengren script and fix the issue using command log.
- Creating partition table to increase the performance for big tables in SQL Server.
- Perform SQL Server version upgrades.

**What you bring to the role**:

- SQL Sever DBA with good knowledge on PowerShell / Python / Ansible
- Expertise High CPU utilization and High memory usage related issues.
- Hands on experience in In-place migration and side by side database migration.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field

**Working arrangements**:
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring three days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Mississauga, ON or Halifax, NS.
