We're looking for a an IT Database Administrator

Estimated Start Date : 01-Oct-2023

Estimated End Date: 31-Mar-2024

Location: Edmonton, AB

There is a possibility that you may be able to work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide technical expertise in database management systems to support systems development and operational activities.
- Maintain database authorization requirements.
- Maintain and enforce database security standards and procedures.
- Provide technical expertise to development teams, Application Maintenance Services and business teams.
- Perform DBMS software installations, plan and test upgrades.
- Disaster recovery preparation and testing.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Develop and automate system related procedures.
- Perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
- Monitor on-going operations and perform on-going system administration tasks: release new versions; database tuning; capacity planning; historical archiving; database consistency and integrity checking; log file analysis; job scheduling; scripting; indexes; reorganizations; change control; and server requirements analysis.

Qualifications:
8 years Database Administrator experience within a large complex environment of similar size and complexity to the Government of Alberta. This would mean an environment consisting of multiple versions of SQL Server existing in both development and production environments.

Experience with SQL Server 2016 or higher

Agrees to an Enhanced Security Check upon contract award, Must have the last 3 years continuous residency in either Canada or United States.

Desired skills:
4 yrs experience working in a multi-tenancy environment where developers do not have access to secured environments like User Acceptance Test or Production.

1 yr Experience working with Oracle 19c or higher

1 yr Experience with Azure SQL

1 yr Experience with open-source databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, CosmosDB, etc.

1 yr Experience with Amazon Web Services databases

1 yr Experience with PowerBI querying Azure SQL

1 yr Experience with migrating on-premise databases to Azure or AWS

Related Canadian education (e.g. certificate, diploma or degree) or foreign credentials certified by Immigration Canada, IQAS or any accreditation acceptable to the Government of Canada or Alberta.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months

Pay: $77.00-$80.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
