Our specialized team of experienced medical professionals and knowledgeable patient advisors offer patients personalized and comprehensive medical cannabis plans incorporating cannabis education, dosing guidance, product selection and registration support.

Reporting to the Manager, Medical Cannabis Clinic, our MVA Patient Advisor provides ongoing support to patients to help them manage their symptoms and conditions using medical cannabis and improve their quality of life. The MVA Patient Advisor works one-on-one with patients to identify primary health conditions, provides cannabis treatment education, creates individualized treatment plans (OCF-18), and aids with completing necessary documentation for registration with Licensed Producer(s) and places orders for patients on an ongoing basis.

The MVA Patient Advisor will review new referrals, draft and submit OCF-18 treatment plans through HCAI. This position requires review of files, interviews with patients and referral partners, and OCF-18 submissions in line with MMC’s quality standards. The MVA Patient Advisor works closely with prescribing physicians and related healthcare team members and assist in ongoing patient support.

**As the MVA Patient Advisor, you will...**
- Review new referrals and patient medical files for supporting clinical information.
- Manage patient files via EMR system (Input Health) and Patient data tracking systems.
- Completion and preparation of OCF-18 forms via HCAI.
- Tracking and follow up of OCF-18 forms for patient signature and insurer approval.
- Communication with insurers and adjusters as needed to support OCF-18 submission and approval.
- Communication with legal representatives for file clarity and recommendations.
- Review section 44 reports pertaining to any denied OCF-18 submissions.
- Provide cannabis treatment education to patients, including but not limited to:

- general information on cannabis and its uses.
- assisting patients in the selection of and registration with a Licensed Producer of medical cannabis.
- assisting patients in the selection of medical cannabis products and strains.
- assisting patients in ordering cannabis from a Licensed Producer.
- offering guidance on how to safely consume medical cannabis.
- offering appropriate accessories to patients (i.e., vaporizer);
- Education may take place via telephone; online video consultation; and other method as determined by the Company.
- Maintain and update medical records for patients and other relevant records in a format determined by the Company.
- Liaise with physicians and other medical and administrative staff within medical clinics.
- Liaise with customer service and administrative staff working for medical cannabis Licensed Producers or other organizations as required.
- Use healthcare knowledge and experience to facilitate exceptional patient care.
- Communicate with Licensed Producers to facilitate ordering and ensure patient needs are met.
- Provide regular updates to all parties.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, privacy, and patient care.
- Attending continuous education sessions and relevant professional development events.
- Remain current in the area of cannabis relating to treatment, Health Canada guidelines, and current political climate.
- Perform other duties as required from time to time.

**As an experienced professional, you will have...**
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience reviewing medical files.
- 1-3 years of previous cannabis clinic, inpatient, or clerical experience in health care industry (Experience working in the MVA industry an asset). Previous experience drafting and submitting OCF-18s considered an asset.
- A self-starter with a strong desire to learn.
- Passionate about providing exceptional patient care.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy for and effectively communicate with patient groups that require a high level of care due to traumatic brain injuries and/or other catastrophic injuries resulting from their MVA.
- Have strong computer skills and experience with telemedicine platforms.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Have strong problem-solving skills.
- Have excellent interpersonal communications skills.
- Clear passion for and solid understanding of cannabis and cannabis-based products.
- Proficiency and experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR) software e.g., Input Health.
- Ability to lift and carry 40lbs
