Controller (Contract)

**Job Overview**

This is a 15 month maternity leave contract. The Controller supports the Chief Financial Officer by ensuring timely, accurate financial records and management reporting. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations such as; preparing financial statements, budgets & reports, identify financial trends and make recommendations, evaluate current budgets and identify ways to cut costs, train & mentor other finance team members and much more. We are looking for someone that is detail-oriented, professional and a team-player.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage the accounting team including Senior Financial Analyst, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivable, Payroll Administrator
- Manage the accounting operations including preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, reports and statutory reporting
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, internal reports and external reporting to financial institutions in a timely and accurate fashion, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures
- Work with department managers to complete the budget and forecasts
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each department
- Work with external auditors
- Analyze monthly financial performance on an individual job basis.
- Provides advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting
- Supporting new systems or projects that digitize and automate accounting functions.
- Hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff
- In accordance with company policy/ESA; overtime, work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the company
- All other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- University degree in Business/Accounting, with CPA or foreign equivalent designation
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience required
- Experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
- Experience with financial planning and analysis
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite, specifically Excel
- Independent problem solving skills, knowing when to seek approval for significant issues
- Demonstrated team leadership experience
- Excels in a fast paced, multi-location work environment
