- Graduate of an accredited Laboratory Assistant Program.
- Current registration as Medical Laboratory Assistant with MLPAO (Medical Laboratory Professionals' Association of Ontario (MLPAO) formerly the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT) or the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science
- Recent related clinical experience as a medical laboratory assistant in a clinical laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in phlebotomy techniques for patients/clients of all ages.
- Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice.
- Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
- Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving.
- Working knowledge of computers, Laboratory Information Systems and other related Hospital systems.
- Consistent and regular attendance required.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
