**Database Administrator** to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Database Administrator, you are responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of the databases installed at Sunwing in MS Azure on IaaS and PaaS solutions. The role includes the development and design of database strategies, system monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements as well as plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the databases. The position reports to the

**What You’ll Do**:

- _ Investigate and resolve _d_atabase issues_
- _ Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security_
- _ Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors_
- _ Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance_
- _ Maintain, implement and develop reports showing usage, metrics and consumption of dba resources and suggest ways to improve performance on each_
- _ Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc_._)_
- _ Document the company’s database environment as well as operational procedures and processes_
- _ _Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)_
- _ Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems_
- _ Assist in migration of SQL Server instances to Azure PaaS from Azure IaaS solutions_
- _ Upgrade MS SQL Server environment to the latest versions and patches_
- _ Provide after hours On Call Support as required as you will be the person the company would call if the SQL Server service stopped working_
- _ Conduct SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions for developers_
- _ Design and write complex SQL Server scripts to automate database management tasks where possible_
- _ Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end, including after-hours and weekends_
- _ When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes_
- _ Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement_

**What You’ll Need**:

- _ Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in the Administration of Databases on premises and in Azure_
- _ 5 years or more experience in:_
- _ Tuning T-SQL queries to improve performance_
- _ MS SQL Server Installation and Configuration for Stand-Alone and clustered instances_
- _ Writing SSIS Packages _
- _Working with Windows Server (all versions) including Active Directory, Partitioning, Disk Configuration_
- _ Architecture, SQL Server Backup and Restore concepts and with SQL Server tools _
- _Good understanding of Data Modeling, RDBMS Concepts, Cloud Data Warehouse Concepts_
- _ Experience with and/or good understanding of Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool and Snowflake_
- _ Be an effective team player, with ability to be flexible and adaptable when dealing with change_
- _ Able to juggle multiple tasks, tight deadlines and changing priorities_
- _ Strong communication and relationship building skills_
