The Chinese Canadian Museum (CCM) is seeking a highly motivated and energized Education and Programs Manager to join our passionate and growing team.

Working for a not-for-profit museum which recently opened to the public, the successful applicant is expected to excel in a fast-evolving environment, working effectively and independently, while collaborating with the museum team, and external partners and stakeholders.

This position is expected to be performed primarily in the office in Vancouver Chinatown, with expected work days from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some off-site work and meetings may be required, as needed. Some education and public programs will occur on weekends and evenings with hours adjusted accordingly.

**About the Chinese Canadian Museum**

The Chinese Canadian Museum Society of British Columbia was founded in March 2020 as an independent, non-profit society to establish and operate a public museum in British Columbia honouring Chinese Canadian history, contributions, and living heritage. The first museum of its kind in Canada, the Chinese Canadian Museum showcases arts, heritage, and cultural exhibitions that celebrate the inclusion and collaboration among Chinese Canadians, Indigenous peoples, and other communities across generations, throughout British Columbia, Canada, and the world.

**Responsibilities include the following**:

- Plans, organizes, directs, provides, and evaluates Museum education programs related to both exhibitions and collections, particularly school programs for all ages. Recommends program goals and objectives to the CEO.
- Directs, supervises, coordinates, evaluates, and provides public programs, in-person and virtual, including arranging for performers, speakers, demonstrations, and guides through scheduling, staff assignments, and community liaisons. Develops public programs collaboratively with other colleagues and works closely with the marketing team to effectively promote all offerings.
- Responsible for supervision of assigned staff: Effectively recommends for hire, trains, schedules, assigns, and reviews work, establishes performance standards, conducts performance appraisal and recommends disciplinary action as necessary. Oversees the recruitment, training, and coordination of the work of education volunteers including tour guides, community service group coordinators, and other volunteers.
- Monitor budgets of education programs, including grant-funded programs, to ensure they are meeting targeted benchmarks and all required guidelines.
- Creates and implements educational outreach strategy to K-12 and post-secondary institutions in the Lower Mainland and beyond.
- Collaborates with board and staff to implement community partnership strategy in relation to public programs.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field in the humanities, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience conducting, evaluating, and/or designing educational programs, preferably in public school or the not-for-profit arts sector, preferred.
- Experience in effective people management.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically as well as intuitively in high pressure situations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and work with diverse groups; including public speaking and program facilitation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and, preferably, in one or more Chinese languages.
- Strong experience with online platforms and tools required to coordinate programs, particularly Zoom preferred.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Passion for cultural heritage preservation and promotion of diversity and inclusion.
- Familiarity with Chinese Canadian culture, contemporary art, histories, and community building is an asset.
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector is an asset.

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
