**Project Description**:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Ph.D. student to join our research team in actuarial science. As a member of our team, you will conduct cutting-edge research in the field of actuarial science, with a focus on one or several of the following topics:
1. **Adaptation of mortality models for climate change**: In this project, you will develop and extend stochastic mortality models that explicitly incorporate climate variables, such as temperature and air pollution, using a combination of environmental, epidemiological, and actuarial research. This could involve using age-period-cohort models or machine learning approaches.
2. **Valuation of annuities under dependent financial and actuarial risks**: The focus of this project will be on exploring copula-based methods and risk measures to value complex annuity products, such as variable annuities. You will work to develop and implement models that can consider the dependence between financial and actuarial risks.
3. **Hedging of interest rate, inflation, and longevity risk in pension liabilities**: In this project, you will develop and test new hedging strategies for pension funds to manage interest rate, inflation, and mortality risks in their liabilities. The research will explore dynamic asset allocation strategies, liability-driven investing, and derivatives-based hedging techniques to improve the risk-return profile of pension portfolios.
**Requirements**:
- Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, (Applied) Mathematics or related fields (preferably a Research Master's or equivalent) with a high GPA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn, and openness to criticism.
- Fluency in English, knowledge of French is a plus.
