**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Caretaker is responsible for esafe operation and upkeep of Warden Woods sites. The post involves caretaking duties primarily at 74 Firvalley, but in support of other Warden Woods sites as needed. Open and close the centre as scheduled, ensure inside and outside of buildings are safe, functional and presentable. Conduct regular cleaning duties and maintain product and equipment inventories, conduct minor repairs, move furniture and supplies, address issues proactively and as they emerge to ensure the building is ready for community, staff and volunteer use.

Key holder and Administrator of Fire and Security Systems. Working as part of a team and on your own initiative is essential. Health and safety awareness and knowledge is essential. A good service ethos is essential and a can do, proactive, energetic attitude towards your work and people is a must. A good self manager, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize is also essential.

**Responsibilities**:

- Open and close buildings as scheduled, and communicate appropriately about security issues
- Ensure washrooms are regularly replenished and kept clean and tidy
- Ensure all communal areas are clean, tidy and stocked with common use items
- Movement of furniture, supplies, deliveries etc.
- Manage garbage, recycling and food waste systems
- Ensure all minor maintenance tasks are completed (or flagged for completion if outside your scope of expertise) within the buildings eg, door handles, shelves, painting, tiling, carpeting, leaks, putting up blinds, furniture repairs, etc.
- Manage keys, combinations, codes, etc. relating to the safety and security of people and property
- Upkeep of external areas (includes seasonal duties)
- Maintain safe conditions and safe working practices within all the facilities, communicating appropriately to eliminate or minimize risks
- Adhere to company and statutory health and safety procedures and policies.
- Ensure all fire signage and equipment is legally compliant, monitored and recorded as per legislation.
- Liaise with management to implement and support organised fire drills and fire alarm tests
- Liaise with, supervise and communicate with external tradespeople as necessary
- Deal with all community members, staff and volunteers with courtesy
- Any other duties as required to contribute to the creation and maintenance of clean, beautiful and efficient sites

**Qualifications**:

- 5+ years of experience in commercial cleaning and varied building maintenance
- Certifications appropriate to this work (WHIMIS, Workplace Health & Safety, First Aid, etc.)
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, lift 30 lbs, use a range of basic tools
- Strong service ethos, ability to be trustworthy and hold professional boundaries is essential
- A can do, proactive, energetic attitude towards your work and people is a must.
- A good self
- manager, ability to prioritize effectively and recognize the appropriate limitations of your own capabilities and knowledge
- Strong attention to detail, strong decision-making skills and logic under pressure
- A ‘ make it happen’, positive, energetic attitude to your day to day work

**Compensation and Hours of Work**:

- $20.88 per hour
- Shift Hours: 10:30 am-6:00 pm Monday-Friday
