Seacoast Marine Electronics (SME) is a highly respected service provider of commercial marine electronics, VSAT communications and IT support to the marine industry in Canada. SME has offices in Halifax (NS) (headquarters), Vancouver (BC) and Hamilton (ON) that serve Deep-sea and Great Lakes vessels.

The Great Lakes Office located in Hamilton (ON) has an exciting opportunity for an Office based IT Support Technician

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor shipboard IT and communication systems
- Follow policy and procedures per customer service level agreements
- Provide first/second level remote technical response
- Manage support ticket system
- Assist in the development of internal and 3rdparty support and service solutions
- Participate with research and development of custom solutions for the marine industry
- Participate in configuration, testing, deployment and maintaining custom solutions
- Documentation of user-based instructions
- Assisting sales with proposals and contracts to ensure we can meet/exceed the goals and objectives of the customer

Skills and abilities:

- 1 year of experience with:

- Customer support within a technical capacity
- Technical project work in a team environment
- Research and development in a technical field
- Must have knowledge of and experience with:

- Ability to critically evaluate and troubleshoot complex problems.
- Business/enterprise networking concepts, design, administration, and support
- Windows and Linux operating systems for servers, virtual machines, and workstations
- Base understanding of cyber-security best practices, management of Anti-Virus/spyware/malware and web controls
- Strong customer support focus
- Additional knowledge and experience beneficial, but not required:

- Network+, Security+, experience with SD-WAN
- Achieves results by establishing priorities, monitoring progress and resolving issues.

SME provides support to the marine industry on a 24/7 basis and this position will be required to work outside of core business hours from time to time. The IT Support Technician is also part of the on-call rotation.
