**Radiant Care Pleasant Manor**
**Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor**
**Full-Time Contract - 1 Year**

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director, the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor manages all aspects of recreation within Radiant Care Pleasant Manor to meet the recreation needs of the residents/tenants and to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of recreation programs to the residents/tenants within legislative and budgetary constraints.

**Qualifications and Skills Required**
- A post
- secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university
- 3-5 years of experience in a health care setting
- Experience in a managerial position
- Communication and teaching skills
- Knowledgeable about gerontological activities and recreation
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach and DementiAbility Methods: The Montessori Way, an asset
- Skills in planning, coordinating and supervising a comprehensive program of activities and recreation
- Sensitivity to the unique ethnic and faith community
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/ Sector Screening (VPS)
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

**Key Responsibilities**
- Implement and take responsibility for meaningful activities and faith based programs for all residents
- Manage all departments and establish close liaison with residents, staff and families to provide meaningful programs that benefit the residents/tenants cognitive, physical, social and emotional functioning
- Developing, integrating and evaluating Montessori activities within the home.
- To be responsible for the wheelchair accessible bus program to assist residents in all activities
- Coordination of the student placement and volunteer program including onboarding, orientation, and ongoing scheduling and training
- Manage all departmental employees consisting of staff schedules, educational training sessions, annual performance appraisals, and payroll records.
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, statistics, etc. related to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation requirements
- Participate in committee and regular meetings
- Assist the Human Resources in selection and recruitment process.
- Knowledge of and promotes the homes Montessori Philosophy of Care
- Understand and comply with all policies and procedures set out by Radiant Care
- Participate in annual goal setting; creating and attaining goals that are aligned with the Organization’s current Strategic Plan
- Keep up-to-date, comply and enforce applicable legislation (Long Term Care Act, AODA, Resident’s Bill of Rights, OH&S Act and Regulations, etc.)
- Understand and adhere to the Collective Agreement, when applicable
- Complete all Mandatory Training assigned by the Radiant Care
- Other duties, as assigned by Supervisor
