Vendor and Cost Manager

Vaughan, Canada GFL Environmental Inc. Full time

The Vendor and Cost Manager will be responsible for the cost management and
management and negotiations with vendors such as Dynatrace and Redhat. As part of the GFL IT Operations team, you will be heavily involved in the migration of legacy products and platforms to new cloud hosting platforms. The main target of the re-platforming work will be AWS and part of the role will include leading and reporting on tool feasibility and implementation work. As a new member of a nascent team, your opinion and advice will also be sought on future strategic direction and recruitment along with long-term views on architecture and capacity.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Monitor spending on various platforms
- Work closely with our major partners to manage expected costs
- Provide business intelligence during budget consolidation periods
- Contribute to continuous improvement, constantly reviewing processes and

identifying bottlenecks
- Contribute to new project kick-offs providing cost information
- Manage relationships with external third parties providing resources, platforms or

support services
- Provide weekly reports to senior leaders on the state of budgeted spending and

unexpected costs
- Guide employees through any unfamiliar processes as may be required by the

business
- Ensure all voices are heard and that people are treated with respect
- Provide employees with challenges and nurture employee excellence
- Maintain an ongoing awareness of changes within the company and within our

tech stacks
- Support HR with on-boarding, off-boarding and recruitment activities

**Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience**:

- Working AWS budget and cost management knowledge
- Vendor management for new and existing contracts
- Business reporting including reports, dashboards and cost management

consolidation
- Budgetary preparation and spending management
- OpEx and CapEx expenditure classification in IT
- Experience working in Financial Operations (FinOps)
- Experience working in or with a DevOps-related team
- An understanding of the culture of DevOps and its origins
- Knowledge of SOC2 compliance requirements
- Experience working in a multicultural global team in multiple time zones
