We have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Adjuster to join our talented Claims Section in our Legal Department

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Claims Manager, you will investigate, evaluate, and negotiate accident claims (both tort and no fault) for or against the TTC/TTC Insurance Company Limited/Toronto Coach Terminal or their employees. The role provides support services to the Section in the preparation of material for pending litigation, arbitration hearings and adjudication tribunals.

As a Claims Adjuster, you will conduct interviews, visit accident scenes, and obtain information to assist in the investigation process.
To this end, you will evaluate and negotiate accident claims through reviewing evidence, establishing value of claims, and attending discoveries/mediations/hearings, etc., as required. You will prepare and maintain various types of reports, ensure adequate reserves, and ensure relevant regulatory requirements and legislation are adhered to. You will provide leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies. You will also be required to participate in the TTC's Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

Your background including completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Insurance field, particularly with relevant experience in the investigation and administration of Accident Benefits files is integral and will contribute to the success in this role. Your completion or enrolment and subsequent completion of the C.I.P. program is required.
