**Job description**

**Settlement & Outreach Workers **provide information, orientation, referrals, and community connections services and activities to local immigrants/newcomers through the Pemberton Multicultural Network.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Assessing client needs and providing settlement and adaptation services to clients as required.
- Linking clients with specific settlement needs to available resources in the community: social services, professional services, and government programs.
- Supporting clients in dealings with institutions, landlords etc. and assist clients in filing appeals and complaints.
- Conducting group and individual orientation and workshops on a variety of settlement related topics such as, housing, education, transportation, employment etc
- Outreach to assess community needs, promoting programs in the community and participating in networking and coalition building with other service providers, agencies, communities, organizations, and institutions providing service to clients
- Identifying needs and delivering events, activities, and workshops to develop life skills and connections to support adaptation to life in Canada
- Maintaining client records, program statistics, and reports and providing regular updates to the Executive Director / the Program Manager / the funder, as required.

**Qualifications**

WMS would like to hear from all individuals interested in working within community development, social services, or a non-profit environment. More important than experience is
- Self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work independently and to leverage tools and resources in a creative way
- Desire to learn and develop
- Interest in building diversity, inclusion and equity particularly in intercultural environments
- Ability to build strong working relationships, good team player

**Existing skills appreciated**:

- Computer and numeracy; Outlook, Excel, Word, social media tools, and adaptability to new technologies
- Ability to communicate well in spoken and written English
- Fluency in a second language and lived experience of the immigration process
- Good organization, time management, and strong problem-solving skills

**Requirement**: Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $23.85-$26.07 per hour
