**JOB DESCRIPTION**: As an R&D Scientist with Best for Bees, you will formulate a questionnaire and collect data from multiple sources, including interviews with field experts, literature analysis, previous weather effects on pollinators, beekeeping management recommendations, and consolidation of the information to be used in a software program to promote the health of pollinators and simplify beekeeping.

You will develop questionnaires based on the assessed data to be added to the software program. This data will enable Best for Bees to create solutions to mitigate these problems for beekeepers. Participants will use the software around North America throughout the seasons to expand our knowledge database and improve beekeeping outcomes. Over time, this will allow a clearer understanding of how weather impacts the development of diseases, regional pest and disease resistance, and how weather-related pesticide usage impact pollinators.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work with government agencies and regional academic experts throughout North America to create a database regarding honeybee health and its relation to local weather phenomena.
- Categorize pollinator threats
- In-person and online presentations to associations and conferences regarding the development of the software program
- Analyze literature related to pollinator health and integrate it into questions
- Create questions for a database to monitor pollinator health
- Work with the Bee Healthy team to integrate questions into the software.
- UX user testing of software before launch
- Support during and post-launch of Bee Healthy Initiative

**JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
Required
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or doctorate degree in Biology, Environmental Conservation or a related field
- At least 1 year of fieldwork with honeybees
- Strong leadership experience and skills
- Fluent in English
- Confident with interviewing individuals or groups in online meetings, phone, or in-person
- Knowledge of Google Sheets/Excel
- Ability to create presentations and effectively deliver to an audience
- Work well within a team setting

**Travel**: This position may include some travel throughout North America to relevant conferences or to meet with experts. 1-10% of your time

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $42,000.00-$46,000.00 per year
