Drafter & Estimator

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our team. As a Drafter, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans based on specifications provided by architects and engineers. Your attention to detail and proficiency in drafting software will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and precise drawings.

Although drafting experience will be considered an asset, the primary intent of this new role is to bring in someone that wants to be the driving force in building a company and client base for a long term very rewarding career. Our company of Fines Design & Consulting has always worked as a feeder for projects for our hardware stores. But, we are now in a position where we would like to grow this company to be a standalone Design company that is building a team and client base for long term success.

**Responsibilities**:

- Create detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software [Softplan]
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors and other professionals to understand project requirements
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and other data to determine the best approach for creating drawings
- Incorporate design changes and modifications as necessary
- Complete on site measurements and site visits do develop plans and progress reports
- Ensure that all drawings comply with industry standards and regulations
- Prepare drawings for construction projects, including building layouts, electrical systems, plumbing systems, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including bills of materials and cost estimates
- Maintain accurate records of all drawings and revisions
- Maintain an accurate knowledge base of pertinent codes and specifications

**Experience**:

- Proven experience as a Drafter or similar role
- Proficiency in CAD software (Softplan, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices
- Familiarity with construction estimating and project management processes
- Experience with Project Management software is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Long term Goals of this position:

- To attain BCIN certification (at the expense of the company) in residential construction design
- To grow our design company to be doing more complete architectural designs, specifically with 3D design, virtual touring and detailed product selections as a part of design services
- To have an individual who is pushing our company forward with new technologies and designs, specifically surrounding Energy Efficiency designs and certifications.

We are hopeful to have an individual who intends on being a longterm part of the company and hope to offer partial company ownership to ensure synergy in acheiving said goals.
