**LINC Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada**

LNC classes assist newcomers in learning to speak English as a second language. Our qualified instructors will support students in learning to read, write, listen, and speak in English. Bredin offers online classes (virtual instruction) with the potential for blended in-person classes.

**Temporary - Part-Time Evening**

**Responsibilities**:

- Create a learning environment with classroom management strategies that encourages student involvement
- Interact in a friendly and patient manner with students from different cultural backgrounds, students of all levels of language proficiency, and students who may have disabilities
- Communicate learning outcomes at the beginning of each course
- Tutor all language skills areas while teaching grammar in an easy-to-understand way
- Evaluate and grade assignments and providing constructive and timely feedback
- Respond to student writing both holistically and analytically
- Employ culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies throughout the program
- Documenting student attendance, participation, and progress
- Present standard English language clearly and serve as a linguistic model for student
- Establish and maintain rapport, credibility, and working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and be a role model for students

**Qualifications**
- Experience with the CCLB curriculum and portfolio-based language assessment.
- Post-secondary education -preferred - language instruction.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in ESL teaching and or TESL Canadian recognized certification with IELTS training is considered an asset
- Experience with ESL curriculum and lessons.
- Excellent classroom management and teaching skills online and in person.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills online and in-person
- Experience in delivering program components to culturally diverse learners
- Present standard English language clearly and serve as a linguistic model for students.
- Communicate effectively with students by articulating clearly, selecting vocabulary, and assessing comprehension by varying methods
- Able to work independently and in a multicultural collaborative team setting
- Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with a high degree of the personal initiative through online learning.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to incorporate them in a group setting.
- Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
