The Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (CSFM) is an interdisciplinary team of investigators, research, and administrative staff (approximately 50 members at present) recognized nationally and internationally as leaders in family medicine and primary health care research. The CSFM’s research is based on the principles of patient-centred care, which takes place in three contexts: clinical care; the community; and the health care system.

The Diabetes Alliance, which operates within the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine, is a dynamic, wholly grant-funded research initiative led by Dr. Stewart Harris. The Diabetes Alliance is defined by three distinct research programs: Clinical Trials, Community-driven Indigenous Research, and Hypoglycemia with a mission is to improve the health and health equity of people with diabetes by developing and evaluating strategies to improve healthcare quality and delivery. The Hypoglycemia Program seeks to generate a comprehensive understanding around the real-world epidemiology of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) through investigations of not only people with diabetes, but also of significant others and healthcare providers who are integrally involved in its management.

**Responsibilities**:
The Research Assistant will support all quantitative research conducted within the Hypoglycemia Program. Responsibilities will include assisting with the design and conduct of quantitative data analyses and development of key knowledge translation materials (manuscripts, reports, presentations, posters).

1. Co-develop and conduct quantitative data analyses and data management strategies:
- Produce comprehensive statistical analysis plans that appropriately align with project objectives;
- Summarize the results of quantitative data analyses using written and tabular/graphical techniques, for the purposes of internal and external project communications.
- Manage data including quality assurance strategies
- 2. Provide substantial contributions to the writing, preparation, and composition of dissemination materials (manuscripts/abstracts/reports/presentations):
- Develop the Methods and Results sections including the conceptualization and creation of any relevant tables and figures.
- Summarize data analysis results for a variety of audiences (academic conferences, industry partner meetings, and other audiences)
- Understand the epidemiologic and clinical implications of the study outcomes, from the perspectives of both statistical and substantive significance, as well as contributions of the work to the existing evidence base.

**Education**:
A Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, or its equivalent

**Experience**:
Minimum of 2 years experience with quantitative data management and statistical analysis.

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Knowledge of diabetes and hypoglycemia.
- A theoretical and applied understanding of the fundamental concepts in epidemiology, including but not limited to, measures of disease frequency and association, methods and approaches to measurement, study design and sampling, confounding/bias, mediation, and interaction/effect modification.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of quantitative analytic procedures and demonstrated competencies in SAS, STATA, R, and/or Mplus.
- Ability to translate complex analyses in a clear, concise manner.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access as well as citation software, namely Zotero.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in an energetic and sometimes high-stakes environment, both independently and as part of a team, to meet study objectives and key milestones, on time.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) with a natural proclivity for team-oriented work and collaboration.
- Ability to work hard, multi-task, and time manage to ensure an optimally productive work schedule/environment.
- Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
- Acuity for detail and ability to synthesize information accurately.
- Proven and natural capacity to interact with people in a professional, respectful, collegial, and supportive manner.
- Knowledge of privacy and confidentiality standards in research
