**KA-NA-CHI-HIH SPECIALIZED SOLVENT ABUSE TREATMENT CENTRE**

**WELLNESS WORKER**

As a member of Ka-Na-Chi-Hih, the Wellness Worker is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health and addiction supports to youth between the ages of 18-29. Facilitation of a strength based; trauma informed program will be delivered utilizing a holistic approach. The Wellness Worker will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide prevention, development of treatment plans, complete assessments and referral services to youth in a residential setting. The Wellness Worker is responsible for providing support and supervision during programming, recreational, and cultural activities.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Incorporate Indigenous culture in all aspects of healing and treatment activities
- Actively assist youth in identifying individualized wellness plans and goals and work towards completing their individualized objectives and goals
- Ensure that youth are engaged and connected to programming and supports offered
- Make sure daily schedules and routines are followed by the youth
- Provide support/guidance, intervention, and facilitate individual and group work
- Ensure the safety and well being of the youth
- Provide youth crisis intervention counselling as required
- Complete screening and risk assessment for suicide and mental wellness status
- Collaborate on the planning and implementation of a variety of community activities/events to promote the personal wellness of youth
- Transportation of clients to appointments and other scheduled activities
- Maintain a high level of communication with colleagues and management
- Appropriately use clinical, diagnostic and treatment planning terminology with clients
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate daily logs as well as all required documentation including but not limited to medication management, serious occurrence reporting, incident reporting, plans of care, case filing
- Work in a case management setting with other service providers, family, and community members in the development of the treatment and discharge planning
- Medication management, meal preparation, and clean up of facility
- Assist clients with daily activities when required
- Maintain confidentiality related to youth and Ka-Na-Chi-Hih at all times
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position, as assigned

**ACCOUNTABLITY**
- The Wellness Worker is under the day-to-day Supervision of the Treatment Manager with further accountability to the overall performance to the Chief Executive Officer.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in social services with 3 years of relevant counselling experience in a scope of practice or experiences in addictions and mental health; or
- Diploma in social services with 5 years relevant counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions and mental health
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Valid G2 or better driver’s licence and ability to provide drivers abstract
- Covid-19 Vaccination (at least 2 doses), unless unable as per a protected ground in the Human Rights Code.
- Employees will be required to have a flexible schedule as the residential facility runs 24 hours and staff will be required to work morning, evening, and night shifts

**Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience assisting at-risk youth in crisis
- Knowledge of trauma, human development, and addictions
- Knowledge of issues/needs of high-risk youth including self-harm, suicide, and mental health
- Knowledge of how mental health issues contribute to and affect the life of Indigenous people
- Experience in working with Indigenous people, families, and communities
- Experience in coordinating and facilitating workshops and groups
- Experience with Indigenous culture and communities would be considered an asset
- Professional verbal, written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to speak a NAN language is an asset

**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
- Hours: Permanent Full-Time (rotating schedule)
- **Rate of Pay: $24.19**:

- Multi-Sector Pension Plan upon completion of probationary period.
