Our hybrid work model preserves the balance between working from home and enjoying meaningful in-person interaction. The needs for every role are different but on average, you will be together with your colleagues at least once per week, with our leadership team in office three to four days weekly to be present for their teams.

**About the role**
We’re looking for an Underwriter I, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team
**What you'll do here**:
- Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
- Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
- Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
- Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions
- Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies
- Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
- Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.
**What you bring to the table**:
- University Degree or College Diploma in a related program preferred or equivalent years of relevant work experience
- Very strong sales and customer service skills
- Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset
- Maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto
- Demonstrate the ability to handle moderate risks
- Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues
- Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
