Arabic Settlement Counselor

**Arabic Settlement Counselor**

**MNS is seeking a full time Arabic Settlement Counselor to provide settlement services. The services will be delivered from our Mississauga/Malton office and may include itinerant services.**

**Responsibilities**
- Offer compassionate, timely Canadian orientation and integration settlement services to Syrian and other Arabic communities
- Provide ongoing settlement supports to families and individuals as needed
- Conduct client needs assessments and assist clients in their settlement action plans
- Organize, plan and facilitate group sessions based on client needs
- Offer timely information on and referrals to other community supports and services
- Liaise with other settlement and service agencies in support of client needs
- Maintain and update client information in government and agency database systems
- Prepare and submit monthly client/ services statistical and progress reports
- Assist in community outreach to promote settlement / agency’s programs and services

**Requirements**:

- Social Work Degree, Community College Diploma or equivalent training or other relevant experience in the human services sector
- Familiarity with socio-economic issues and settlement challenges facing refugees and other newcomers to Canada
- Knowledgeable in Arabic cultures and community needs
- Current knowledge of government and other local support services, resources and programs
- Disciplined with well-developed inter-personal, communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated, positive minded team player with strong problem solving skills
- Proven ability working in a multicultural setting and with adherence to inclusion, diversity and equity principles
- Fluency in English and Arabic is a requirement
- Current police clearance certificate

**Salary**: $24.44 per hour

- Peel, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Knowledgeable in Arabic cultures and community needs: 1 year (preferred)
