Reporting to the General Manager and the Operations Manager, the Clay Target Shooting Instructor and Guide - Range Safety Officer will be responsible for the safe guiding and professional instruction of clay target shooting experiences. Teaching clients the basics of gun safety, handling and shooting moving clay targets while providing clients with high-quality memorable experiences.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide clear and safe firearms use and handling instruction to a wide range of clients in a professional and decisive manner.
- Act as the range officer.
- Lead tours and ensure that clients have a safe, informative, educational experience.
- Instruct clients on safe shooting techniques to break moving clay targets.
- Monitor and observe clients while on the range and when shooting.
- Clean and maintain firearms to ensure a safe and workable condition
- Operate and maintain range equipment to ensure uninterrupted operation.
- Maintain the range and site to ensure staff and client safety.
- Open and close the range using provided signs and flags.
- Stay up to date and current with general firearms laws and safety.
- Participate in training and workshops as required.
- Performs all tasks in accordance with established safe work practices and standards, while adhering to strict operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- A valid Canadian Firearms Licence (PAL) is essential.
- Range Safety Officer training certificate would be an asset and/or experience acting as a Range Officer at club level.
- Knowledge and experience in safe handling and use of firearms.
- Proven ability to follow and adhere to strict safe operational procedures.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, professional, decisive, and courteous manner.
- Good common-sense judgement.
- Experienced in working with the public and providing outdoor experiences to wide range of clients.
- Ability to read, follow and adhere to firearm and ammunition handling safety protocols.
- Positive attitude.
- Strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required.

**SCHEDULE**:

- Full-time typically 8am to 5pm
- Weekends and some evening work will be required given the nature of the business
