Overview:
**Who We Are**

Barnard-Flatiron Limited Partnership (“BFLP”), a joint venture between Barnard Constructors of Canada and Flatiron Constructors Canada, has been created to deliver Phase One of the Green Line LRT Project.

The Green Line LRT Project is the largest infrastructure initiative in the history of the City of Calgary, with $5.5 billion (CAD) in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and the City of Calgary. It will provide significant transportation benefits by expanding mobility choice and providing rapid and direct connections between communities, employment hubs and destinations between the southeast and downtown Calgary. Phase 1 includes 18 kilometers of dual light rail track, 13 passenger stations, 2 kilometers of underground tunneling, 9 major bridge structures including 1 kilometer of elevated guideway, and a 72-acre maintenance and storage facility.

**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Deputy Project Director of BFLP, this role will oversee all field related aspects of rail and trackwork construction. This position will require a deep understanding of railway infrastructure and track construction. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

**Work Environment**

This position will be required to work from the BFLP offices located in downtown Calgary and on site once construction is underway.

Qualifications:

- 8+ years of heavy civil construction experience required
- 5+ years construction management experience required
- Proven experience in rail and trackwork construction
- Strong knowledge of railway infrastructure and track system
- Strong leadership capability with internal drive to mentor and grow internal talent
- Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements
- Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervises assigned project work and liaises between field engineering, estimating, and workforce to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications
- Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work
- Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates weekly schedule from project feedback
- Reviews and understands the project specifications to support job set up activities.
- Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on the job site
- Presents production work plan during initial project meeting to ensure all project crews and leaders are in alignment
- Coordinates with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
- Forecasts the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
- Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
- Coordinates with internal and external departments to ensure all mandated inspections are completed within requested timeframes.
- Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements. Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on the jobsite.
- Supervises sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding subcontractor activities, as needed
- Coordinates project close out activities in line with Company standards and Owner checklist requirements.
