**Reporting to**:Field Crew Supervisors

**Summary of Duties**:
First Nation Skél7awlh (Stewards) - Lands & Resources will work together under the supervision of the Field Crew Supervisors. The Skel7awlh Steward will be expected to start and finish each day of work at the Ullus Community Complex office in Mount Currie, and travel to areas within and beyond the Lil’wat Territory to carry out field work duties. Some office time will also be required for data entry and reporting tasks. The main areas of focus will be Fisheries Field Surveys, Environmental Monitoring, and Archaeological Field Assessments.

**Key Deliverables and Expectations**:

- Collection of fish and fish habitat data, environmental monitoring, and archaeological field data.
- Seasonal salmon enumeration, collection of water samples, vegetation surveys, and fish habitat restoration.
- With the support and guidance of the Field Crew Supervisors, Stewards will learn to engage in opportunities to educate community members and the public on related environmental conservation.
- Computer data entry and reporting.
- Assist in debriefing work, risk management discussions, and work collaboratively with other Lands and Resources Departments and staff as needed.
- Assist in ensuring equipment, work vehicles, data sheets, and sampling gear are logged, organized, and in good working condition.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

**Experience and Attributes**:

- Preferred education/training - Environmental Field Skills, RISC Archaeological Field Certification, Fisheries Field Technician Certification, Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Certification, Level 1 First Aid. Other applicable education/training will be considered.
- Some experience in Environmental Monitoring and Fisheries Field techniques is preferred.
- Must be physically fit and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Understands and follows all field safety procedures.
- Work effectively as part of a team, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Previous experience or an interest in cultural and conservation work, specifically as it relates to Lil’wat Nation.
- Knowledge of salmon sampling collection protocols and area rivers & fishers concerns.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and GPS units an asset.
- A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
