Veterinary Assistant

Cornwallis Veterinarians Ltd. is currently seeking a part-time or full time Veterinary Assistant to fill a vital role at our Kentville location. CVL is a very busy clinic, focused on the health and well-being of both small and large animals. We require someone who is motivated and task oriented and works well independently but enjoys working as part of a cohesive team. Compassion and a respect for animals is a must. Flexibility is required as this position will include both daytime, evening and Saturday morning shifts.

Our Veterinary Assistants support the Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, kennels, dishes, laundry & bedding, feeding & exercising patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, holding and handling patients ensuring a comfortable, safe and sanitary environment. Some duties require a certain amount of physical strength. Our Veterinary Assistants also work part of their week at the front desk, answering phones, booking appointments, invoicing for services and providing customer service for all retail and pharmacy sales. Completion of a Veterinary Assistant program is preferred and additional training will be provided. A desire to learn and work in the field of animal care is essential. This is a fast paced & challenging, but extremely important role within the clinic.

This position is available immediately with 25-40 hours per week once the training period ceases.
