The City of Port Moody is seeking a motivated leader with a commitment to Health and Safety to fill the regular, full-time position of Horticulture Supervisor. This position will develop and implement landscaping plans and related horticultural projects on schedule and will direct the work of staff and contractors to ensure safety procedures are followed.

The Horticulture Supervisor will source and purchase materials and supplies, develop and implement landscaping plans, coordinate and supervise staff, and operate a variety of small tools and mobile equipment while performing maintenance, landscape, construction and horticultural activities. This position will liaise with residents, co-workers and senior staff to ensure all work follows city policies, procedures and bylaws.

Basic Qualifications:

- Two year Horticulture Diploma from a recognized University, College or Technical Institute, or a Journeyman ticket, plus three years of job related experience
- Knowledgeable in the establishment and maintenance of plants, pruning, fertilizing, pests and diseases
- Ability to use a variety of horticulture tools and equipment
- Experience organizing horticultural projects
- Green infrastructure design and maintenance experience
- Strong supervisory skills and experience
- Experience record keeping, developing work plans and report writing
- Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem solving skills
- Innovative and creative thinker
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer skills including Word and Excel
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Valid BC Driver's License
- Strong garden design background would be an asset
